Jessica Jones
Jessica Jones, a devoted mother of three boys, was inspired to write We Are All Chocolate after a heartfelt conversation with her oldest son when he was four. Her middle son, born on Halloween, earned the affectionate nickname “Chocolate.” One day, her oldest son curiously asked why she called him that. Jessica playfully responded, “Because everyone is chocolate!” But to her surprise, he challenged her by saying, “Not Uncle Mike!”—his dad’s best friend. Without hesitation, she reassured him, “Even Uncle Mike!” and quickly Googled “white chocolate” to show that, in their own way, everyone is chocolate. That simple yet powerful moment made Jessica realize something profound—although her son had never said he felt different, he already understood that he was. This eye-opening conversation sparked the idea for We Are All Chocolate, a book that celebrates diversity and teaches children that no matter our differences, we are all connected in the most important way: our shared humanity.
